The Division of Legal Services assists all Louisiana Department of Insurance (LDI) offices in the interpretation and application of the Louisiana Insurance Code, promulgates rules and regulations, takes enforcement and action against regulated entities, prepares and files pleadings and makes appearances in judicial and administrative proceedings involving the LDI.
Key responsibilities of the Legal Division center on legislation, regulatory policies and legal opinions. The division also serves as a liaison between the Department and other federal, state and local government departments, agencies and commissions, as well as insurance companies, producers and consumers.
