Long-Term Care Insurance

Long-term care insurance is a policy that helps cover the day-to-day costs of care for a person living with an acute or long-term disability.  Depending on the type of policy you choose, long-term care insurance can pay for some or all of long-term care services such as:

  • home health care
  • nursing home care
  • respite care
  • adult day care
  • care in an assisted living facility

Long-term care insurance is not for everyone. Whether or not an individual should purchase long-term care insurance depends on a variety of factors including age, health status, income and assets. Many decide to purchase a long-term care insurance policy so they will not be dependent on the government or their families to pay for their long-term care. Before purchasing long-term care insurance you should carefully examine your needs and resources to determine if purchasing a policy is right for you.

Louisiana Long-Term Care Insurance Partnership Program

Louisiana is one of the many states in the country that offer a partnership program to help make long-term care more affordable for interested consumers. Established in 2010, the Louisiana Long-Term Care Partnership Program protects residents from being forced to exhaust their assets to become Medicaid eligible if they are faced with requiring long-term care. Partnership program policies are only available from producers and agents who have completed training in the state of Louisiana.
