Louisiana Insurance Guaranty Association (LIGA)

The Louisiana Insurance Guaranty Association is an independent body of contributing insurance companies. The Louisiana Receivership Office forwards moneys recovered from failed member companies to LIGA, which uses member contributions to pay the claims of these failed companies. Most property and casualty insurance companies in Louisiana belong to LIGA, which in effect "insures the insurers."
