Commissioner of Insurance Jim Donelon was sworn in today following his election on September 30, 2006. Donelon served as the appointed Commissioner from February 16, 2006, until last month's special election.

"I am honored to continue serving as Commissioner of Insurance and I am committed to protecting our consumers and keeping the dialogue going with insurance companies to let them know Louisiana is a great place to do business," Donelon said.

Commissioner Donelon added that he is stimulated by the challenges that lie before him. "I look forward to continuing to attract more insurers to our state," Donelon said. "We have a professional regulatory climate here in Louisiana and that won't change. I will maintain our system of fair and balanced insurance regulation, with the consumer always uppermost in my mind."

Commissioner Donelon was sworn in by his brother Clem Donelon.
