The Louisiana Department of Insurance Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) has released its 2006 Medicare Supplement Comparison Guide.

“We surveyed insurers throughout Louisiana and put together a guide that provides up-to-date information on Medicare supplement insurance policies,” said SHIIP Director Alan Heumann. “Basically this guide helps Louisiana seniors make decisions regarding the types of insurance policies they can purchase to supplement their Medicare health benefits.”

“The Department is proud to be able to provide this useful information to its citizens each year,” said Commissioner of Insurance Jim Donelon.

SHIIP is the state health insurance assistance program from the Louisiana Department of Insurance. The program provides objective counseling and information on Medicare and senior insurance products at no cost.

The easiest way to access the Medicare Supplement Comparison Guide is online at www.ldi.state.la.us. Citizens can also get a copy of the SHIIP Guide by contacting their area’s Council on Aging, or by calling the SHIIP toll-free number 1-800-259-5301.
