The Louisiana Department of Insurance has issued an updated statewide estimate of reported claims and insured losses paid-to-date (information as of August 31, 2006) for damage caused by Hurricane Rita in Louisiana. This information does not include losses paid by the National Flood Insurance Program. Again, the below claims and dollar amounts are estimates.

Losses paid-to-date: $2,417,536,795 (Over $ 2.4 Billion)

Reported claim count: 200,582

# of parishes with Rita-related insurance claims filed: All 64 parishes

Parish with most claims: Calcasieu Parish; 69,793 claims costing $1.4 Billion

Parish with costliest claims: Calcasieu Parish; $1.4 Billion for 69,793 claims

Parish with fewest claims: E. Carroll with 59 claims totaling $788,437

Line of business with most claims filed: 59.2% of all claims filed are Homeowners; 118,726 claims filed, costing $1.3 Billion
