Angie insurance agent issued C&D, Commissioner Donelon announces

Released: October 17, 2007

An Angie insurance agent has been issued a cease and desist order, summary suspension and served with a $14,000 civil fine notice today for alleged misappropriation, document forgery and filing false public documents.

Kimberly McKenzie, 39, was served by Department of Insurance Fraud Section Investigators today with an order to cease and desist from engaging in the business of insurance, a summary suspension of her licenses and a civil fine notice.

It is alleged that McKenzie submitted two fraudulent license renewal applications to the Department of Insurance by not disclosing her prior criminal record. She is further alleged to have misappropriated insurance premiums and altered or forged documents while conducting the business of insurance.

McKenzie is currently on three year probation for convictions including forgery, unauthorized use of an access card, issuing worthless checks and identity theft. Department records show that McKenzie was issued a Life & Health license in May 2001 and a Property & Casualty license in June 2001. Both licenses were suspended in today's action.

Commissioner Donelon urges consumers who feel uneasy about any insurance-related transaction to call the Department of Insurance Fraud Section at 225-342-4956 or 1-800-259-5300. If callers don’t want their names used, they can request that their involvement be kept confidential.
