A Baton Rouge insurance agent has been arrested and issued a cease and desist order and summary suspension of his licenses today for allegedly misappropriating insurance premiums.
Troy Joseph Dixon, 42, was arrested by the State Police Insurance Fraud Unit today on one count of felony theft and 10 counts of insurance fraud. At that time he was also served by Department of Insurance Fraud Section Investigators with an order to cease and desist from engaging in the business of insurance and a summary suspension of his licenses.
Dixon is alleged to have accepted premiums from two customers that were not remitted to the insurance company, and also to have remitted premiums to the insurance company on behalf of A-Affordable Insurance Agency, Inc., and Petra Insurance Agency, Inc., which were returned for insufficient funds. It is alleged that Dixon, A-Affordable Insurance Agency, Inc., and Petra Insurance Agency, Inc., owe the company over $8,700.
Department records show that Dixon held a life & health license from March 1985 until todays action, a property and casualty license from February 1987 until May 2005, and an Auto Club license from March 1999 until todays action. Dixon is listed as sole owner and president of A-Affordable Insurance Agency, Inc., and president of Petra Insurance Agency, Inc. He is also listed as sole owner and president of Petra Group of LA, LLC. All entities were served with a cease and desist order and a summary suspension order, with the exception of A-Affordable Insurance Agency, Inc., which was only served with a c&d.
