Released: July 12, 2010

A Lake Charles agent was served by Department of Insurance Fraud Section Investigators today with a notice of proposed action and fine notice for alleged issuance of bonds without proper authority to issue said bonds and without taking necessary and proper steps with regards to issuing companies in order for them to determine whether or not to underwrite the bonds.

Charles Martin Ward, 56, was served by the Department of Insurance Fraud Section Investigators today with notice of proposed action and a $500 fine notice.
Department records show that Ward held a Life, Health and Accident license effective September 1984, valid through April 2008 and a Property and Casualty license effective October 1991, valid through April 2009.

Ward has 30 days from the time of notice to file a written demand for an administrative hearing to contest the regulatory action taken against him by the Department of Insurance. Commissioner Donelon urges consumers who feel uneasy about any insurance related transaction to call the Department of Insurance Fraud Section at 225-342-4956 or 1-800-259-5300. If callers do not want their names used, they can request that their involvement be kept confidential.
